Daoism, Chinesise 道教 dào jiào, “Teaching of the way”: a Chinesische philosophy and religion; since the 4th century B. C. historically secured. The daoism has essentially influenced the culture of China with respect to the art, medicine, martial arts, literature etc.

The most important keybook on daoism is the Tao Te King (道德經 Dào dé jīng) of Laotse (老子 Lǎozǐ). The daoism takes up the cosmological concepts of heaven and earth, the so called five elements, the teaching of qi as well as yin and yang prevalent since the Zhou dynasty (1040-256 B. C.) and in the Yijing (易經 yìjīng). The daoism evolved also several disciplines of body and mind cultivation like Taiji Quan (太極拳 tàijí quán) and Qigong (氣功 qìgōng).
